On average, women apply roughly 515 chemicals to their skin everyday.
Considering that the skin absorbs much of what is applied to it and passes it along to the bloodstream, this is pretty problematic. What’s even more upsetting is that several of the chemicals found in beauty products are proven to be carcinogenic.
Here are some common chemicals found in beauty products:
- parabens
- formaldehyde
- synthetic fragrances
- toulene
- aluminum
- sulfates
- sulfites
- phthalates
- lead
and this is just a minuscule amount of harmful toxins found in common products.
So here is a list of non-toxic makeup products that aren’t full of toxins and chemicals and won’t cause cancer. You’ll notice that Jane Iredale’s products make frequent appearances. This is because she has some of the best I’ve ever tried. For example, I bought her liquid mineral foundation last July. I’ve worn it every single day and still have about half of it left. So not only is it non-toxic, you’re really saving money because the products last so long!
Foundation
This is the liquid foundation I use and this is the pressed powder. Both are great, long lasting and offer great coverage.
Concealer
This is the concealer I recommend. It does wonderful things for blemishes, scars and covering dark circles under your eyes.
Primer
This is an AMAZING primer, especially if you have oily skin. It minimizes the appearance of pores and evens out skin tone. It’s perfect under the liquid foundation.
Blush
I prefer a cream blush, it blends into the skin and looks more natural. I use this cream blush. If you prefer a powder blush, I’ve heard great things about this one.
Bronzer
I love wearing bronzer in the summer! This bronzer gives you the perfect sun kissed glow and really highlights your cheekbones.
Lipstick & Lip Gloss
I like this double-sided lip gloss and this lipstick in Rosy Raisin.
Eyeliner
I’m pretty basic with my eyeliner, I just use black. This is a great option that stays put and won’t give you raccoon eyes.
Mascara
This is the mascara I’ve been using since December. I love it.
Eye Shadow
This is a great eyeshadow set and you save money by buying a set as opposed to buying them individually. It lasts a long time and the color is amazing. Afterparty is my favorite.
