I’ve written about my skin woes before, you can read a bit more about that here.

Basically, in fourth grade, I woke up one day with a face covered in blemishes.

I thought it would go away and clear up on its own, but it stuck around until my early twenties. And when I say blemishes, I mean more than a few zits. I’m talking about deep, painful pimples that. I mean pus, pain and blood blisters under my skin.  I had a thick layer of oil that could almost drip off of my face, and yet still somehow had dry skin that would flake off in chunks. It was awful and I was painfully embarrassed.

After clearing my skin through diet, I was left with a face full of scars.

I meet so many people who say they had problem skin as a teen, and yet their skin is as smooth and scar-free as a baby’s butt. If you had skin issues and were left with no scars, you’re either insanely lucky or you didn’t actually have bad skin issues.

I’m sure any skin sufferer knows what I mean. The scars we are left with are not only embarrassing, but can be a constant reminder of our once horrible skin, and worst of all, negatively impact our confidence levels. As someone who thinks confidence is one of the most attractive characteristics a person can sport, no one should be held back by their scars.

Unfortunately, most scar treatments involve toxic chemical peels or expensive, harsh lasers. While this cream won’t be an overnight cure, it has helped so many scar sufferers (including me!). I go into much more detail about this in my book, but tamanu oil promotes new tissue formation, MSM promotes collagen formation, coconut oil is antibacterial and tea tree helps prevent future breakouts.

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz cocoa butter
  • 2 oz tamanu oil (I use THIS brand)
  • 4 tbsp coconut oil, softened (buy coconut oil HERE)
  • 10 drops each of the following oils:
    • melaleuca (tea tree oil)
    •  lavender
    • frankincense

Directions:

  1. Get out a large glass bowl and a whisk.
  2. Gently heat the cocoa butter over very low heat.
  3. To the glass bowl, add the cocoa butter, then add the tamanu and whisk.
  4. Once combined, add the softened coconut oil and whisk.
  5. Store in mason jars! You can keep one in the bathroom and one in your freezer until you’re ready to use.
