This homemade hydrating hair mask is one of the reasons I still have hair. Okay, maybe that’s a bit dramatic. But it IS one of the reasons I still have long, healthy hair.

No matter whether I use heat tools or not, my hair, especially my ends, tends to get really dry. I once went four months without using heat tools, it didn’t make a difference.

Now I use them once or twice a week and my hair is still doing really well. In fact, it’s been growing really quickly.

Why this homemade hydrating hair mask will rescue your damaged, dry hair:

Guys, trust me,  use this hydrating hair mask and your dry damaged hair will be the softest and shiniest it’s ever been.

This homemade hydration hair mask is:

  • deeply conditioning,
  • it’s easy to throw together
  • keeps in the fridge,
  • and it takes all of three minutes to apply.

Which ingredients do I need for making this hair mask?

Ingredients

How to make this homemade hydrating hair mask:

  1. Combine essential oils in a small bowl.
  2. Smush (technical term) together until combined.
  3. Apply to the middle to ends of hair, I like to use a brush to comb through and coat each strand of hair.
  4. Wash your homemade hair mask out in the AM.

How to use this DIY hydrating hair mask:

To maintain healthy hair, I only wash my hair twice a week. If you wash more, that’s fine. Here’s the trick to using this DIY homemade hydrating hair mask!

The night before you’re going to wash your hair, use your homemade hair mask. Every. Single. Time. Why wouldn’t you?

I do this literally every single time I wash my hair. I usually wash on Sundays and Thursdays, so Saturday and Wednesday nights I’ll apply this, tie my hair up in a knot using an alligator clip and sleep in it. Then just shampoo and condition as normal in the morning.

After a couple weeks of doing this, you’ll notice that your hair is looking amazing. Healthy, with less split ends and fly-aways.

How to store your homemade hair mask:

You can double or triple this DIY hair mask recipe and store it in the fridge to use when you want.

  1. I’m in love with this mask. My air is so soft and manageable. I regularly blow dry and straighten my hair and even after doing that, my hair is still so soft. I just want to touch it all day long. Thank you so much for this recipe.

  4. Will it make my hair look greasy in the morning? I go to the gym in the am and was wondering what it would look like in the morning.

  5. Should I just apply this to the ends or can I do it to my whole head.

You CAN do your whole head but it might make your hair/scalp pretty greasy. I usually stick to mid/ends.

  6. Hi! If I didn’t want to leave the mask on overnight, how long would you suggest to leave it on before washing out? Thanks!
