5 Minute Paleo Chocolate Pudding

I’m not even a huge chocolate fan and I L-O-V-E-D this pudding. And I hate coffee, but it had almost a mocha taste that I thought was really good, most likely because I also added a bit of almond extract. But if you don’t have almond extract, no worries, it still tastes great without it. Another thing I like about this dessert is that it is so easy to make, you can make in bulk, and it requires no baking. I am not a good baker. I hate measuring out every single ingredient. I want to do my own thang. Luckily, you can mix it up with this pudding. Add berries, add banana, add whipped cream. GO CRAZY! 5 Minute Paleo Chocolate Pudding I’m not even a huge chocolate fan and I L-O-V-E-D this easy paleo chocolate pudding. And I hate coffee, but it had almost a mocha taste that…

Vegetarianism: An Outlet For Disordered Eating?

When I went vegetarian at 16, part of it was because I wanted to save animals. But part of it was because I wanted to be healthy. Part of it was because I thought it would help me lose weight. Fact is, I killed way more animals in my years of vegetarianism than if I had I adopted a local and sustainable diet. It worsened my health and actually made me gain weight. I can’t help but notice that vegetarianism seems to be an outlet for disordered eating. Many women I’ve met with previous histories of disordered eating that have adopted a vegetarian diet. It’s like a socially acceptable form of disordered eating. Let’s be clear, I’m not saying this is true of everyone. I’m not saying this is exclusive to women. Not all vegetarians have eating disorders. I’m saying that there is a very real connection between disordered eating and…

What This Health Coach Is Eating To Prepare For Her Wedding

You know what’s really upsetting? Hearing about women binge dieting to prepare for their weddings. There is NO need to try these dangerous, unhealthy diets to prepare for your wedding. Preparing for a wedding should be fun, it should be a happy time in your life; not a time where you’re cranky and constantly hungry because of a new diet you’re trying out. If you eat healthy, exercise and sleep there is literally no need for any of these crazy diets I see floating around. The issue is that most people aren’t even sure what is “healthy” anymore. Should you avoid fat? Should you avoid sugar? Should you avoid carbs? I’ll tell you what you should do and what will work: eating real food. Binge diets, low calorie diets, low fat diets and eating low-fat foods or “diet” foods (i.e.: 100 calorie snack packs, low calorie frozen dinner, etc) is…

I Quit My Job To Be a Health Coach

FYI: This gets personal. I think that us bloggers so often put the brightest, shiniest bits of our lives on display, and it isn’t realistic. What anyone knows about me from reading my website is that I’m a health coach, I’m engaged, I’m happy, I’m healthy. None of you know where I come from or how I got here. So I open up a bit about that today. If that’s not your thang, I warned you. Also, I seriously considered titling this post “Started From The Bottom Now I’m Here” but didn’t think a lot of people would get it. So here goes: When I was 11 my mother told me I’d be pregnant by the time I was 17 and never amount to anything. I’m not sure why she thought I’d be pregnant by the time I was 17, I was never promiscuous. But this is something I think…

5 Steps To A Healthy Morning Routine

If you want to change your life, eat healthier and be happier, it’s helpful to establish a healthy morning routine. The morning sets the tone for your entire day. If you wake up late, tired, groggy, rush out of the house without breakfast, are hurrying to get to work, chances are you’re going to have kind of a shitty day. The start to your day should be relaxing, chill and happy. Not rushed, grouchy and stressed. Here is a great morning routine to get into. Kombucha and/or Lemon Water I start every morning with either kombucha or lemon water. Kombucha is a fermented tea; it’s full of enzymes as well as probiotics. It tastes AMAZING. You can buy kombucha here, or make your own using this kit. But I don’t always have it so I usually drink water with half a lemon squeezed in. Lemon water: cleanses the body of…

Got Anxiety? You May Be Deficient In This One Mineral!

Suffering from symptoms of anxiety? A simple over the counter supplement might be the easiest natural anxiety treatment!  I’ve suffered from anxiety for as long as I can remember. I think it started when I was 3 or 4 so (unfortunately), therefore I am quite experienced in this field. Today, I would like to share some of my acquired knowledge about natural anxiety treatment with you. Many factors can cause anxiety. That includes emotional, genetic, environmental, etc. While prescription drugs are often the first resort, it turns out that a completely safe over-the-counter mineral could actually be the more effective anxiety treatment. There is one calming mineral that some reports say 90% of the population is deficient in – magnesium. Our ancestors had an abundance of magnesium from organ meats, seafood, swimming in the ocean, and rich soil. But it isn’t uncommon to be depleted today. The modern diet is…

How To Get Rid of Wrinkles From The Inside Out

We are constantly bombarded with wrinkle creams, lotions, acne cleansers and every other product on the market that’s supposedly going to give you beautiful skin. Here’s the thing: beautiful skin starts internally. Whatever is going on in your digestive tract, the vitamins and minerals you consume, the healthy fats (or lack thereof) all directly affect the appearance of your skin more than a $60 cream ever could. The foundation of healthy skin is a healthy diet, but did you know that the supplements you take internally can affect your skin more than what you actually apply to it? Let me introduce you to the mother of all healthy skin supplements: collagen. No, I’m not talking about expensive collagen creams; which are ridiculous anyway because collagen molecules are too large to be absorbed by the skin. So when you buy topical collagen, you’re just wasting your money. I’m talking about taking collagen…

Why I Don’t Support Meatless Monday & What To Do Instead

Plant-based diets for environmental protection are too short-sighted. They aren’t effective. No issue as big as environmental destruction is black and white, and going meatless one day a week is not a step in the right direction. Why is there no emphasis on organic, local and sustainable food? Why do the Meatless Monday recipes promote refined carbohydrates, inorganic tofu with no emphasis on GMO-free, low-fat dairy (which is extremely unhealthy) and refined vegetable oils? Today I’m going to wade through the BS claims that the Meatless Monday foundation makes, and provide a more sustainable and healthy alternative. LIMIT CANCER RISK: Hundreds of studies suggest that diets high in fruits and vegetables may reduce cancer risk. Colon cancer is associated with red and processed meat consumption. What are these mysterious hundreds of studies? Where are they? Because there are absolutely no links to support this very broad claim on the Meatless Monday website.…

Almond Blackberry Cake with Coconut Frosting (Nut & Dairy Free)

Even if you get a gluten-free cake, it’s still full of sketchy ingredients. So I decided to make my own. And it turned out AWESOME. I have to say that the clear star of this cake is the frosting. I’m in LOVE. I don’t normally love coconut, but it’s super creamy from the coconut and it just tastes amazing. I think it’s my favorite frosting ever, including the frosting that is made out of 5 pounds of powdered sugar. It’s that good.
